Nice tasting Ankou Nabe in Mito. They have a value for money lunch set in weekdays and also English menu available. Staff is also friendly and helpful. Recommend if you are in the area.

My first anko nabe full course meal. Pretty remarkable that I traveled all the way just for this. Service is fantastic by the old lady, even though we dont speak Japanese. The meal started with the appetizer and various dishes made from anko and ended with the anko nabe. we also added another mito local produce, natto tempura, just to try. The shop is filled with anko produce which you can but back.

Have you eat an anglerfish? Yes, try this Mito specialty. A deep sea fish, surprisingly delicious on a steamed rice pot with complete tempura/sashimi set for additional 700 yen. In the end I paid ¥2068 for a hearful meal, complete with appetizer and dessert. Have to try if you are in Mito, Ibaraki.
